Personal data
Data controller: Sébastien Flores.
Data collected: name, email address, message, and your company name if you choose to provide it — that field is optional. Through the contact form only.
Link origin: if you reached this site through a personalised link of the form /c/ followed by a code, that code is included in the message I receive, together with the name of the application it corresponds to where I can establish it. These links appear on the CVs and applications I send: the code tells me which of those your message relates to. The code is held by your browser, in the tab's session storage, for the duration of your visit; it disappears when the tab is closed. Without such a link, no code is transmitted.
Purpose: replying to the message sent, and knowing which application it came from.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR).
Recipient: Sébastien Flores only. Messages are delivered to and kept in a Gmail mailbox operated by Google.
No message is stored on this site: there is no message database and no copy on the server. The email in my mailbox is the only copy.
CV analysis: the private dashboard I use to track my job applications includes a tool that compares a PDF CV against the text of a job advert. The PDF itself is never stored: its text is extracted in memory and the file is discarded immediately. The extracted text is kept in the dashboard database, hosted on the same server as this site. The analysis itself runs entirely locally and calls no external service. Writing suggestions may optionally be requested from a third-party language-model provider: in that case only, and after pseudonymisation — name, email address, phone number, postal address, personal links and date of birth are replaced with placeholders before sending, which is refused if any of them survives. This feature is optional and stays off as long as no provider is configured. No CV sent through the contact form is involved: that form accepts no attachments.
The AI provider retains the text sent to it and the responses it produces, and may reuse them to improve its own services; this processing takes place outside the European Union. This is why the text is pseudonymised before being sent.
Retention: one year at most from the last exchange, then deletion of that email.
No resale, no transfer to third parties, no marketing.
Rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection and portability, exercisable by email at the address above.
A complaint may be lodged with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (www.cnil.fr).
Cookies and trackers
This site sets no cookie of any kind, technical, analytical or advertising, and uses no tracker requiring consent. There is therefore no banner to accept or decline.
Three records may be written to the browser's storage. None is a cookie, none ever leaves the browser — nothing is sent from them to the server — and all can be cleared at any time from the browser settings.
The first remembers that an invitation to get in touch has already been shown, so as not to repeat it. It lives in local storage and expires on its own after thirty days.
The second remembers the section you were reading when you switched language, so you can be returned to it. It lives in the tab's session storage and is valid for a few seconds only.
The third remembers the code of the personalised link you may have arrived through, so it can be included if you write to me. It lives in the tab's session storage and disappears when the tab is closed. See “Personal data”.
Analytics
Site traffic is measured with Umami, installed on the same server as the site. The visitor's browser contacts no domain other than the site's own, and no data is passed to a third party.
What is measured: the number of visits and page views, the page viewed, where the visit came from (referring site or campaign), the approximate location derived from the IP address (country, region, city), the device type, the operating system and the browser, along with two specific actions, downloading the CV and opening the contact form.
How: with no cookie, no persistent identifier and no browser fingerprint. The IP address is used to compute a technical digest, with a salt renewed every day, then discarded without ever being stored. Two visits a day apart can therefore no longer be linked, not even by the site publisher.
The statistics are aggregated: they make it impossible to identify a person or to reconstruct their journey. No profile is built, and no data is sold or passed on.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). This processing is audience measurement strictly necessary to operate and improve the site, exempt from consent under the guidance of the CNIL, the French data protection authority. Retention: twenty-four months at most, in aggregated form.
The measurement script is served at /stats/js and can be blocked by any content blocker: the site then works exactly the same, with no measurement at all.
